In the year 1939, Padma bhushan Shri. Karamshibhai Jethabhai Somaiya started two sugar factories – one in Laxmiwadi and second in Sakarwadi to mark the launch of his own sugar business. He soon came to be known as the “Sugar King of India”. It was the vision of Shri. K J Somaiya that modern, advance and value based professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture.
For the children of sugar factory workers, he established Somaiya Vidya Mandir Laxmiwadi in the year 1959, and the Director of SSC Board, Pune granted permission for the classes of std. 5th to 10th on 9th Sept, 1959. This was the first school in Laxmiwadi and in the surrounding areas, which provides educational facilities to the nearby villages like Sawalivihir Budruk, Sawalivihir Khurd, Nimgaon, Nighoj, Dorhale, Sonewadi, Kokamthan, Rui, Shirdi, etc. We are providing quality based education by using advance technology without taking any charges. Our inspiration is our honorable President Mr. Samir Somaiya.
